Lost at sea, aged 22 years.

SS Almond Branch

Crew member of turret type tramp steamer Almond Branch. Sunk as a result of torpedo attack by UB 57, under the command of Lt Captain Otto Steinbrinck. John Drillot was the sole casualty. The Almond Branch (3,400 tonnes) was en-route with general cargo from South America to London via Port Talbot. She went down 2 miles SE of Dodman Point, near Mevagissey, Cornwall
