Husband of Violet Victoria Hall (formerly Guilbert), of 25, New Rd., East Copnor, Portsmouth. Born at St Peter Port, Guernsey. Enlisted in RN in 1901.

Lost at sea, aged 32 years

 

 

T M Guilbert served at HMAS Penguin (the RAN submarine training base equivalent of HMS Dolphin for the RN). Then onto active service in AE1 the first RAN Submarine.

1914-15 Star

He was awarded 1914-15 Star, Victory and British War Medal


 

AE1 was Australia's first submarine. Lost off German New Guinea in 1914.

The Project AE1 team conducted two recent searches in 2009 for the submarine and it was finally located in December 2017.
