Son of Harry Ruff of Grands Maisons, St Sampson, Guernsey. Born at St Helier, Jersey

Died in Guernsey, aged 25 years

William Ruff is buried along with several family members in the unmarked plot in the foreground

  • He was born in St Helier, Jersey before the family moved to Guernsey.
  • He joined the Dorsets (regtl no 9027) in 1911 to be discharged from them in early 1914 due to Tubercule of Lung.
  • He re-enlisted March 1915 with the Wiltshires (regtl no 19251) and was in France early June of that year (14-15 Star).
  • Home after 12 days and by the end of July 1915 was discharged and on a pension, died 3 June 1916. No SWB.
