Carved on the Cambrai East Memorial at Louverval along with a group of R.G.L.I. soldiers with no known grave.

Born at Jersey. Son of Francis & Alice Square of Pike's Corner, St Sampson's (formerly of Jersey). Enlisted at Guernsey.

Killed in action, aged 23 years

NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Friday 11 January 1918

Roll of Honour. We regret to announce the death which took place in action on 25 November last of Private Charles Square. This soldier, who was in his 23rd year, was born in the Island and was the son of Mr Frank Square, formerly of Jersey and now of Guernsey. He joined the Dorset Regiment in 1915 and was transferred to the Guernsey Company Royal Irish Regiment and later to the Guernsey Battalion. We tender the family our heartfelt sympathy in their bereavement.
