NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Monday 9 October 1916

Roll of Honour. Yet another Jersey Colonial, Private Edward L B Allen of the 1st Wellington Infantry Battalion New Zealand Expeditionary Force, has made the supreme sacrifice. Private Allen, who was the second son of Mr G F Allen of 43 New Street, left for the far southern colony some years ago and on the outbreak of war promptly joined the Colours. He went through the ever-memorable Gallipoli campaign and proceeded later to the Western Front, where he was killed in action on 16 September last. The late soldier was aged 23 and the news of his death will be received with regret by many friends and acquaintances. To the family we beg to tender our sincere sympathy.
