NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Monday 3 June 1918

Roll of Honour. Mrs George Freeman of Hue Street has received news that her brother, Walter Aveson of the Hampshire Regiment, was killed in action on 22 April. This soldier, who left Jersey several years since, served in the South African Campaign with the Royal Army Service Corps and joined up soon after the outbreak of war. He was 37 and leaves a widow and children who reside in England to mourn his loss, and to those and the relatives here we tender our sincere sympathy.
