Roll of Honour. A few days ago we chronicled the fact that Private W Battam of the Hampshire Regiment had been admitted to the Australian Hospital in Rouen dangerously ill suffering from gun shot wounds in the back and neck and we now regret to state that this soldier passed away on Easter Day. The late soldier, who was in his 24th year, was a former member of the 1st Jersey (St Simons) Troop of Boy Scouts and was a well known employee of Mr C M Brooks. Shortly after the outbreak of war he enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps and last year transferred to the Hampshire Regiment. He was serving in the Company commanded by Captain Bird, son of Mr C Bird, who is now in hospital in London suffering from injuries, and the Captain was able to visit the wounded soldier before he left the field hospital. The late Private Battam, who was popularly known as Mac, was a well known footballer and when on leave at Christmas played for the Island XI. To the parents, who reside in Patriotic Place, and other relatives we offer our sincere condolences.
