NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Thursday 30 May 1918

Roll of Honour. Much sympathy will be felt for Mr & Mrs Bourke of 18 Journeaux Street who have received news from the Officer Commanding the Company that their son, Private Thomas Patrick Bourke of the Hampshire Regiment, was killed in action on the morning of 22 May when at his post. The soldier was in his 24th year and had been employed since a lad by Orviss Ltd, and was held in the highest regard by the directors and employees of that establishment. The officer of his platoon in conveying the sad news adds "always cheery and bright, he will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Please accept my deepest sympathy and also those of his pals in the platoon".
