Son of the late William and Sarah Cave. Husband of Mary Jane Cave, of 103, Chester Rd., West Hartlepool. Born at St. Helier, Jersey.

Killed, aged 41 years

S.S. "Ilston" (Swansea) was an armed merchantman of 2,426 tons, 300 x 44 x19 ft. She was sunk on 30 June 1917 by torpedo from a U-boat. This big wreck now lies in 45-50m of water two miles or so east of Lizard point, with the large boilers and cargo of railway rolling stock showing across the wreckage.
