He was born in Bennington, Hertfordshire, worked as a gardener, while his parents were Joseph and Maria. He lived at 42 Brook Road in Flixton, and he had married Alice Jones, 6 years his senior, in 1894. They had one child who had died by 1911.

UK Increment of the RJGB. Had formerly served with 11th Bn, Manchester Regiment in Dardanelles, Egypt and France. Service number was 24422. Cause of death not known. CWGC Commemoration and Headstone does not reflect RJGB service. Acknowledgement to Ian Johnson for bringing this to Group's attention.
