NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Thursday 12 November 1914

Died of Wounds. News has been received in the Island of the death of Sergeant Cobley of the 1st Devons at a Boulogne hospital. The deceased, who married a Jersey lady, Miss Girfitt, received terrible wounds in the head but wrote cheerful letters home. Mrs Cobley left the Island to visit her husband but was too late, he having expired before her arrival.
