NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Thursday 4 October 1917

Roll of Honour. We regret to record the death which took place yesterday at the Birmingham War Hospital from pneumonia of Private John de la Haye of the Dorset Regiment. The deceased, who was in his 50th year, formerly resided at Martello Cottage, St Brelades Bay and worked for Mr Allez of that parish. He had latterly been employed in agricultural work on the mainland and contracted pneumonia from which he eventually succumbed. We tender the bereaved relatives our heartfelt sympathy.
