NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Wednesday 9 October 1918

Roll of Honour. A few days ago we announced that Mrs Despres of 4 Great Union Street had received official news that her second son, Private H F Despres of the Dorset Regiment, was lying seriously ill with malaria and we now regret to state that the mother has received news that the soldier passed away on 1 October. The gallant lad enlisted in 1912, he being then 17, he served some years in India and was then sent to Salonika. He had previously been wounded twice and has now succumbed to the dreaded fever aged 23. We tender the bereaved family our sincere sympathy.
