NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Monday 23 November 1914

Asleep in the Deep. We understand that Mr & Mrs J Drelaud of 59 Ann Street on Saturday last received official notification of the death of their youngest son Walter Harold (Wally) Drelaud who died on board HMS Niger which was torpedoed off Deal on 11 November. For some time doubts were entertained as to whether the young sailor was on board the Niger but the official intimation now clears the matter up. We offer our sincere condolences to the bereaved family.
