NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Tuesday 3 September 1918

Roll of Honour. Though not yet 19 Alfred Charles Guegan, fourth son of Mr J F Guegan of La Biarderie, Trinity made the supreme sacrifice on 23 August last. The sad news was conveyed to the father by the officer of his son's company who states that the deceased had made himself liked and respected by all the boys. The writer adds that Private Guegan was unfortunately killed by a shell after the Company had reached their objective in the second advance "it is almost needless to say what a big loss he is to us. I hope it will be some little consolation to you to know that he made the supreme sacrifice willingly in his Country's cause". We tender the bereaved family our sincere sympathy.
