NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Wednesday 2 January 1918

Roll of Honour. An official intimation has been received of the death of action in France on 30 November last of Private C J Hadley of the 2nd Hampshire Regiment. Private Hadley, who was in his 28th year and was formerly employed as groom by Mr W Whittaker-Maitland of Beau Desir, enlisted in March last and went into training at Sutton Veny. He had only been in France a few days when he met his death. To the widow, whose marriage took place as recently as last March, we offer our sincere sympathy in her bereavement.
