NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Thursday 8 October 1914

Another Loyal War Victim. We herewith publish a photograph of AB Francis Edward Charles Hoffman who was serving on the cruiser Aboukir which was sun in the North Sea on 22 September 1914. The deceased was a Naval Reservist who rejoined the fleet when the Admiralty called up the Fleet and Naval Reserves. He was a son of Mr & Mrs Hoffman of Garden Lane and had married a Jersey lady, Miss Florence Le Cornu. For some time he had been living in London where he was employed and besides his widow he leaves 2 little children. We feel sure that our readers will join with us in expressing sincere sympathy with the widow, children and parents of the late seaman in their bereavement.
