Killed in action, aged 32 years

 

NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Monday 23 September 1918

Roll of Honour. We regret to record the death which took place in action on 17 June last of Walter G Hopkins of the Jersey Company Royal Irish Rifles. The deceased soldier was in his 33rd year and formerly served in the Town Battalion RMIJ. He joined the Jersey Company and had been in France practically since 1916. The late Rifleman, who was very highly respected locally was the son of Mr & Mrs Hopkins of Ann Street, and leaves a widow (nee Miss Amy Lambden) and children to mourn his loss.
