NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Friday 19 November 1915

Death of a Jersey Sailor at Gosport. We regret to learn of the death of Arthur Edward Jerrard son of Mr Jerrard of Haimance House, Ann Street, which occurred yesterday at Haslar Hospital, Gosport from acute pneumonia. The deceased, who was in his 19th year, joined the Royal Navy about a month ago and left for Portsmouth. Shortly after arrival he contracted a cold which gradually grew worse despite attention. Yesterday his relatives received a wire informing them of his death. Mr Jerrard's father and a brother of the deceased are we understand leaving the Island tomorrow in order to attend the obsequies. We off our sincere condolences to the family in their bereavement.
