NEWS ITEM IN Jersey Evening Post of Friday 25 January 1918

Roll of Honour. We regret to record the death which took place through drowning whilst on a voyage to Egypt of Albert Laurens, youngest son of Mr E J Laurens, the ex-deputy of St Helier. This soldier was aged 22 and was a 2nd Class Air Mechanic in the Royal Flying Corps. He had served in France for several months and, as stated above, was on his way to Egypt when he was drowned. No details are given except the notification that the body was recovered on the last day of 1917. We tender the family our sincere sympathy.
