NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Saturday 5 October 1918

Roll of Honour. A well known professional golfer, Lance Sergeant A Chevalier of the Royal Sussex Regiment, has we regret to state died in France of wounds received in action. This loyal Jerseyman was the youngest son of Mrs Chevalier of Lavender Villa, Grouville and, as stated previously, held an appointment as a golf professional. He volunteered some two years ago and joined the Sussex Territorials and had been in France some 18 months, the last occasion on which he visited his native Island being in June, when he came on leave from the Front. The deceased was in his 37th year and made the supreme sacrifice on 26 September. We tender the bereaved mother and other relatives our heartfelt sympathy.
