NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Tuesday 26 November 1918

Roll of Honour. A few hours prior to the signing of the Armistice a gallant Jersey Canadian, John Stanley Malzard, eldest son of the late Mr J Malzard of Clarence Road and Mrs Malzard now of Portsmouth, was called upon to make the supreme sacrifice, a gun shot penetrating his chest. The deceased was born in St Ouens in 1887 and some 13 years ago left for Canada. He had been in France for some months and the news of death received since the cessation of hostilities has come as a great blow to his relatives, to whom we tender our heartfelt condolences.
