NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Monday 22 April 1918

Jersey Soldier Wounded and in Hospital. Mr & Mrs Marett of Charing Cross have been officially informed that their eldest son, Private Clarence F Marett of the Northumberland Fusiliers, has been severely gassed and is lying in the 53rd General Hospital in Boulogne. Private Marett's younger brother, who was in the Royal Irish Rifles, has been a prisoner of war in Germany since March 1917. We trust that favourable news will shortly be received.

Roll of Honour. We regret to state that Mr & Mrs F Marett of 20 Charing Cross have received the official notification of the death in action of their eldest son, Private Clarence Frederick Marett of the Northumberland Fusiliers, which took place somewhere in France on 24 October last. The deceased soldier, who was in his 26th year, was highly respected locally. We tender all the members of the family our heartfelt condolences.
