Evening Post of Wednesday 26 December 1917
Jerseyman Dangerously Ill. The many friends of Private
G Moignard, who arrived in South Africa only quite recently,
will regret to learn that his wife, who resides at Sandybrook,
St Peter has received a telegram stating that he is lying
in the General Hospital in Dar es Salaam dangerously ill
with dysentery. We hope the next news will be of a reassuring
character.
NEWS ITEM in Jersey
Evening Post of Monday 31 December 1917
Roll of Honour. On Wednesday last we stated
that Mrs Moignard of Sandybrook had received news that
her husband, Private G Moignard, was lying dangerously
ill at Dar es Salaam and we now regretfully chronicle
the news of this soldier's death from dysentery. The late
soldier was 35 and left the Island after his draft leave
on August Bank Holiday. He had only been in German (now
British) East Africa for one month. We tender the widow
and other relatives our heartfelt sympathy in their bereavement.
