Killed in action, aged 35 years



NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Thursday 8 June 1916

Roll of Honour. Leading Seaman William P Moyse, another Jerseyman serving on HMS Black Prince, lost his life in the naval battle on Wednesday 31 May. The gallant sailor, who had many years service, was in his 36th year. He was highly respected by the officers of his ship and his many friends in Jersey will regret to hear of his untimely decease. To the family we beg to tender our sincere sympathy in their bereavement.
A total of 26 Jerseymen are believed to have lost their lives in the Naval Battle of Jutland on 31 May 1916 and on HMS Hampshire which sank on 6 June 1916 after striking a mine off the Orkneys.
