Killed in Action, aged 21 years

NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Thursday 28 June 1917

Roll of Honour. We regret to record the death which took place in action somewhere in France on 7 June of Leicester O'Brien, only son of Mr & Mrs O'Brien of Unity Cottage, Gas Lane. The deceased gallant soldier, who was very popular and highly respected locally, was only in his 22nd year and previous to joining the Colours was employed in the hosiery department of Mr E P Falle's establishment. He enlisted in the Hampshire Regiment at the close of 1915 and proceeded to France some months ago and has now been called upon to make the supreme sacrifice. We tender the bereaved parents and family our heartfelt sympathy.
