NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Monday 15 October 1917

Two Jersey Soldiers Reported Killed. Alarming rumours have been circulating around town and country today regarding a number of casualties to Jerseymen serving in an English Regiment. We have made careful enquiries and can only vouch for the authenticity of two cases, Privates F Baudains and E Perchard, both of the Hampshire Regiment, who have unfortunately been called upon to make the supreme sacrifice. The information was transmitted to the parents by a brother of the former serving in the same Regiment. Private Baudains was one of seven sons of Mr Baudains who are serving their Country, whilst E Perchard was the son of Pilot Perchard, both thus hale from the Eastern District. The late Private Perchard leaves a widow and child, both men left Jersey early in the year. We tender both the above families our sincere sympathy.
