NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Monday 5 July 1915

Roll of Honour. Yet another well known name has to be added to the Roll of Honour, that of Private Walter Perkins of the 2nd Royal Berkshire Regiment who was killed in action on 9 May. The deceased who was the second son of Company Sergeant Perkins of Pier Road has been in the Army several years. His father, though well past the age limit, volunteered for service at the outbreak of war and rejoined his old regiment, the Royal Berkshires, and did good service before he unfortunately caught a chill and succumbed from pneumonia. To Mrs Perkins and the family who now reside in England we would tender our sincere sympathy.
