NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Friday 7 February 1919

Roll of Honour. After having gallantly served his country Lieutenant J Pipon of the RNVR unfortunately died last Wednesday at Toronto in Canada. This gallant officer was the grandson of the late General Pipon of honoured memory, and youngest son of the late Mr J H Pipon. Shortly after the outbreak of hostilities he received a commission in the RNVR and whilst on the voyage to England from Canada his vessel was sunk by enemy action. He fortunately escaped and later took part in the memorable action at Ostend and Zeebrugge, unhappily as a result of illness contracted on active service he had to retire and return to Canada, and as stated above, passed away on 5 February in his 26th year. We tender the relatives abroad and the Misses Pipon, his aunts, with whom he stayed whilst on leave in the Island, our heartfelt sympathy.
