NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Wednesday 3 April 1918

Roll of Honour. We regret to state that Mr F B Pluck of Union Street has been officially informed that his younger son, Sergeant Douglas Pluck of the Royal Fusiliers, who was reported missing on 3 May 1917 is now presumed to have been killed on that date. The late Sergeant served his apprenticeship at A de Gruchy & Co and shortly afterwards left to take up an appointment in London. At the outbreak of war he joined the Royal Fusiliers, he being then 19, he proceeded to France some time later and as stated above made the supreme sacrifice in May last. We tender the bereaved family our sincere sympathy.
