Born at Jersey. Only son of the late Mr John Redden & Mrs Maria Julia Redden, née Lucas, of 37 Pier Road, St Helier, Jersey.

He left Jersey for Canada in 1911 where he was working at the Ford Motor Factory in Toronto when the war broke out and he enlisted.

Killed in action, aged 25 years

Another Jerseyman Killed. Mrs Dick wife of ex-Colour Sergeant Dick of the Permanent Staff RMIJ has received the news of the death of her son John Redden of the Canadian Engineers. The deceased, who was 23, left Jersey early in 1911 for Canada and until the outbreak of war was in the employ of the Ford Motor Factory in Toronto. On the outbreak of war he joined the forces and for some months has been fighting on the Western Front. To the bereaved mother and other members of the family we would tender our respectful sympathy in their bereavement.

 

Commemorated on Haut de la Garenne Memorials, Jersey

 

At 8pm every evening, the Last Post is played inside the Menin Gate in remembrance.
