Born at Jersey. Son of John & Matilda Roach of St Lawrence, Jersey. Brother of John F. P. Roach, of Bel Royal, St. Lawrence Valley, Jersey.

Killed in action, aged 36 years.

Roll of Honour - Another Jerseyman Killed. Still another Jerseyman has to be added to the already lengthy roll of those who have laid down their lives for King and Country on the battlefields of Europe. This is Private James Roach of the Bedfordshire Regiment only brother of Mr John Roach of Bel Royal. The deceased who was in his 37th year and unmarried was at the time war was declared employed as a gardener at St Albans. In response to the appeal for men he joined Kitcheners Army and in due course proceeded to the Front where he was killed in action on 12 March.
