NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Wednesday 8 January 1919

Roll of Honour. Sapper A E Rodda, RE. Yesterday we stated that Sapper Albert Edward Rodda of the Royal Engineers had been reported dangerously ill in France and we now regret to learn that last evening the soldiers wife received a telegram stating that her husband had passed away on Monday last of acute bronchitis at Nancy. The deceased who was highly respected locally was in his 29th year and was formerly on the staff of the Britannic Assurance. Shortly after the outbreak of war he left to enter the employ of Kynochs and some 18 months ago he joined the Royal Engineers and had been in France for some time. The news of his death after the close of hostilities needless to say comes as a great blow to the widow, to whom together with the other members of the family we tender our sincere sympathy.
