NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Friday 8 November 1918

Roll of Honour. We regret to have to chronicle the death in action on 26 October of Gunner C R Searle of the Royal Field Artillery. Gunner Searle, who was a Bristol man, had resided in Jersey for many years, making his home at Mrs Matson's at 15 Dumaresq Street, and news of Gunner Searle's death was received by her yesterday afternoon. He was in his 26th year and before joining the Army in 1915 had been in the employ of Mr J Terry. He had not been to Jersey for 2 years but was a frequent correspondent of many friends here. To the bereaved members of his family and his many friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
