NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Monday 1 February 1915

Roll of Honour. One of the crew of the ill-fated HMS Viknor which has disappeared and been given up by the Admiralty was Seaman William Thomas Stokes of Jersey. The deceased, who was 32, had left the Navy after 12 years service but rejoined on the outbreak of war. Like many other Jerseymen he has given up his life for his Flag. He had only been married 18 months and to the widow and relatives we tender our sincere sympathies.
