NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Monday 22 January 1917

Roll of Honour. We regret to chronicle the death which took place in action somewhere in France on 26 September 1916 of Francis Philip Syvret of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. This loyal soldier, the son of the late Mr F Syvret and Mrs Syvret of Le Carrefour, St Marys had been in Canada for many years. Shortly after the outbreak of war, though 47, he volunteered and proceeded to France with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. No news had been heard of him for some time past and it has now been ascertained that he was killed as above. To the mother and other members of the family we tender our sincere sympathy.
