NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Tuesday 20 October 1914

Reported Death of a Jersey Soldier. We regret to state that Mr & Mrs C Tank of Commercial Buildings have received intimation that their son Trumpeter C H Tank of 6th Dragoon Guards who, as we have stated previously, was seriously wounded and lying at Nantes Hospital, has since died and been buried in France. Messages received said that the Cavalryman was in a serious condition but hopes had been entertained all along that he would recover. If the message is unfortunately correct Trumpeter Tank is one of the first Jerseymen to have died for his country in this campaign and we feel sure that though his parents will naturally feel the loss they have sustained they will still feel proud to know that their soldier son died a hero's death.
