NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post
of Monday 19 November 1917
Roll of Honour. Yet another Jersey lad,
Peter James Therin, has laid down his life for King
and Country. The young soldier was aged 19 and was the
son of Mr & Mrs Therin of Sunny Cottage, Trinity,
he was formerly employed as a clerk at Renouf &
Ereaut (solicitors) and joined the Royal Garrison Artillery
with whom he proceeded to the Far East. He was keen
on his military work and looked forward to taking an
active part in the campaign, but unfortunately his parents
have received a telegram stating that he died at Basmali
on 5 November last apparently from fever. We tender
the parents and other relatives our heartfelt condolences.
