NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Wednesday 9 October 1918

Jersey Canadian Seriously Wounded. We regret to learn that Mr & Mrs Luce of Lawn House, Grouville have been informed that their nephew, Private Sydney Touzel of the Canadians, is lying at No 4 General Hospital in France. The unfortunate soldier's left leg has been amputated and he has received a compound fracture of the right leg.

Son of Thomas and Adelina Touzel, of Jersey. He had left for Canada some five years previously with his family.

Died of wounds, aged 21 years

Roll of Honour. A few days ago we stated that Mr & Mrs G Luce of Lawn House, Grouville had received news that their nephew, Private Sydney Touzel of the Canadians, had been seriously wounded having had his left leg amputated and a compound fracture of the right leg. We now regret to announce that further news has been received that the gallant soldier has passed away. The deceased, who was in his 21st year, left with his family for Canada some 5 years back and resided in Ontario. He had been in France some time and the news of his decease will be received with sincere regret by scores of acquaintances and friends. We tender the bereaved our heartfelt condolences.
