Son of Robert and Carolyn Troon; husband of Laura Annie Troon (nee Webber), of Fern Glen, Spring Rd., Sholing, Southampton. Born in Jersey, Channel Islands.

Killed, aged 41 years.

S.S. "Arcadian" (Belfast). Originally known as Ortona, built by Pacific SN Co for the Australian run in 1899. She was 7950 gross tons and 500 feet long, carrying 130-1st, 162-2nd and 300-3rd class passengers. She passed to Royal Mail Steam Packet Company in 1906, and was used briefly on their West Indies route. In 1910 she was rebuilt as the cruise ship Arcadian (8939 gross tons, 320 First Class passengers). Although defensively-armed she was sunk by a submarine in 1917 whilst on trooping duty. SS Aracadian was built in 1899, owned by Royal Mail Steam Packet Company, 8,939 tons. She was torpedoed 26 miles NE from Milo, without warning and sunk by German submarine UC74, in Mediterranean, whilst on passage to Salonika Alexandria, 35 lives lost.
