NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Saturday 19 August 1916

Roll of Honour. About 12 mouths ago Mr George Vardon of the Prince of Wales Rooms was informed that his son, Private Harold George Vardon who was serving with the 2nd Hampshire Regiment in the Dardenelles, was missing. Time passed by and nothing further was heard of the soldier and now the Record Office states that the Army Council are regretfully constrained to conclude that he is dead and that his death took place about 4 June 1915. The sympathy of all our readers we feel sure will be extended to Mr & Mrs Vardon in their bereavement.
