NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Monday 6 May 1918

Roll of Honour. As we briefly stated in our special edition last Saturday Mrs Veler of Route a la Vierge, St Peter has received a letter from Private G F Romeril of the Hampshire Regiment stating that her son, Private Peter Veler of the same unit, has been killed in action by a sniper. Mrs Veler's family have certainly suffered during the war, another son, Sergeant John Veler of the Dorset Regiment who was awarded the Military Medal some time ago, is now at Eastbourne Hospital and has had his left arm amputated owing to severe injuries; another son, Gunner Frank Veler of the Royal Artillery, is at Bedford Hospital suffering from gas poisoning, whilst another son, Private Joseph Veler has been a prisoner of war since August 1914, and a son-in-law, Louis Mobray of the French Infantry, has been missing since 31 October 1914. We tender the family our sincere sympathy.
