NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Saturday 29 December 1917

Death of a Jersey Soldier. On Sunday week Mrs John Vibert of Ville Bagot, St Ouen received a notification from the Records Office of the Dorset Regiment, in which her son Private J F Vibert was serving, stating that he was lying dangerously ill of dysentery in Mesopotamia. Today she received a telegram from the military authorities stating that he had passed away on 21 December. The deceased soldier joined up some few months ago and had only recently been sent out to Mesopotamia. He was 24 and before joining up he had been in the employ of Mr J B Le Quesne of Fair View, St Johns. To the bereaved mother of this young Jersey soldier we tender our sincere sympathy in her sorrow.
