NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Monday 10 December 1917

We regret to state that Mrs Walden of 1 Imperial Place, St Marks Road, has received official news that her son, Private Henry Thomas Walden of the Australian Imperial Force, was killed in action somewhere in France on 12 October. The deceased soldier was an engineer in the merchant service and he left for the southern colony about 14 years ago. He joined up shortly after the outbreak of war and has taken part in much of the heavy fighting in which the Anzacs have distinguished themselves. We tender the family our sincere sympathy in their bereavement.

At 8pm every evening, the Last Post is played inside the Menin Gate in remembrance.
