NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Monday 19 June 1916

Jersey Rifleman Accidentally Killed. We regret to state that news has been received in the Island that Rifleman W A Warren of the Machine Gun Section of the 7th Royal Irish Rifles was killed on 12 June. It appears that the Rifleman was effecting some repairs to his gun which went off unexpectedly, the shot hitting him in the leg. It does not seem that the injury itself was very serious but the unfortunate soldier died from shock. Rifleman Warren was formerly employed by Mr J W Orviss and was well known and highly respected. We offer our sincere sympathy to the family in their sorrow.
