NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Saturday 22 June 1918 Roll of Honour.

We regret to chronicle the fact that Mr Watkins of Library Place has received a letter from Private J Blampied of the Dorset Regiment conveying the sad news that the formers brother, Private S J Watkins of the Dorset Regiment, was instantaneously killed in action on 14 June and requests the brother to break the distressing news to the widow. The writer, in a most sympathetic letter, states "he was always willing and a good soldier and this makes it all the harder for us to lose him. He was liked by all of us and we deeply regret his loss". The late soldier was 30 and joined up about a year ago, he leaves a widow to whom, with all other members of the family, we offer our sincere condolences.
