NEWS ITEM in Jersey Evening Post of Wednesday 25 October 1916

Roll of Honour. Another Jersey Canadian, Private Bert A Wherry has laid down his life on the field of honour. This loyal soldier left Jersey for the land of the Maple some 4 years ago and joined up soon after the outbreak of hostilities. He had been in France some time and was killed during the heavy fighting on 15 September last. To the widow, who is left with four children, we offer our sincere sympathy in her sad bereavement.
