Francis Joseph Lucas


12896 Rfm Francis Joseph Lucas wasa regimental signaller in the Kings Royal Rifle Corps as can be seen from his proficiency badge. He also appears to be wearing the small 2 blue chevrons on his lower left arm that signify 2 full years+ overseas service (in theatre of war). He is also wearing the KRRC shoulder titles of the Kings Royal Rifle Corps. The upside down stripe on his right arm is for Good-Conduct badge and this first stripe is awarded for good conduct for no less than 2 years

Francis was killed in action on 17th October 1918.

Taken in Winchester where he enlisted in the Kings's Royal Rifle Corps on 26th October 1915. At 17 he was underage on enlistment.
Taken in Jersey & showing him as a more mature soldier.
